A resolution requesting the City Mayor’s Office through the City Engineering Office (CEO) to consider constructing a fire station in Sitio Sabang, Barangay Cabayugan, was passed at the City Council Monday.
City Councilor Jimmy Carbonell, the author of the resolution told the media Monday there is a great need for a fire station in the area considering it is a home to a world’s wonder, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River and National Park (PPSRNP).
Carbonell added Sitio Sabang is too far from the city’s closest fire station located in Brgy. San Pedro.
He said if this request indeed materialize, this fire station can also respond to the nearby barangays such as Salvacion, Macarascas, Bahile, Tagabinet, and Buenavista.
Carbonell said the request will still be subject to scrutiny of City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in coordination with the CEO.
He also said the City BFP and City Government may just help each other on the budget for building the facility.
Carbonell added the city has two fire stations in the present.
