The former beauty queen/actress Imelda Bautista Schweighart found a new career by creating music, and independently produce and release it in different online platforms, she personally compose her music, among the songs she releases are Super Wave, Change My Mind, Cotton Candy, the upcoming: Bubba Luva And Cloudy days, and all categorize as bubblegum pop or RNB, Soul and Funk.
Imelda said that she was born in Cyprus and since two years old, and while growing up in Puerto Princesa, she performed in many occasions with her mom and dad as her inspirations.
She used to join singing contests and was an active member of the church choral group, and choir in her elementary days in Palawan State University.
“Mas nakilala ako sa pageant. Ang hindi nila alam lumaki akong ina-associate ko sarili ko with musicians. I’ve been roaming in the underground scene of LGBTQ, hip hop scene, with funky art kids. So, being with artists help shape my artistry as well,” Schweighart said.
At 18, Imelda begun writing and composing songs. She started a duo band called “Esther” with DJ Allrock and was active in performing live in many festivals and events. It is her ultimate dream to become an international pop superstar.
Now a mother, Imelda wants to inspire people, particularly women, in all possible means and she hopes to achieve being “Imelda” as a solo and independent artist in this generation. At the moment, she is working with four different music producers. Her latest single “Bubba Luva” is in collaboration with Lust Bass.
“I want my baby boy growing up in a household where his mom is happy doing what she loves, also I wanna be singing my songs for women who are like me,” Imelda explained.
As an indie artist, Imelda admitted that she personally financed her career for now, paying music producers, photoshoots, posters and marketing her online releases. She is hoping that after establishing her name through different platforms, she can attract a recording label to invest in her music.
