As the pandemic continues, 21 local businesses in the province of Palawan including the City of Puerto Princesa, already declared closure while 224 officially announced temporary shutdown until further notice, the said data is according to the report of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth Palawan Office).

Most of the businesses in the 21 establishments are into micro and retail industries, while those who closed temporarily belongs mostly from the tourism sector such as pension houses, travel and tour agencies and transportation companies.

“21 sila boung Palawan, Puerto Princesa and mga LGU’s, mixed industries from Micro and retail, mostly mga maliliit na business establishment, 224 ang nag request for temporary closure, mag re-resumption sila once okay na ang business nila,” Philhealth Palawan Information Officer Marian Carlos said.

The said data was obtained from April to June 30 of this year in the records of Philhealth Palawan. The closure declaration is important according to Carlos, they have to know your company status so they can properly note it for documentation purposes.

“Kung temporary closure kumbaga na nawalan ng kita, they have to inform Philhealth, write a letter and meron sila kailangang i-fill up na form na employer data amendment form, so –isubmit nila yun sa amin para ma-tag namin yung kanilang establishment, pero kung nag close na ang business kailangan nila pumunta ng City Hall (LGU) to get their Certificate of Business retirement, galing ‘yon sa business licensing office, then bibigyan nila kami ng kopya para ma-tag namin na sila ay closed na,” Carlos explain.

While we struggle with the situation in these trying times of pandemic, Philhealth suggests affected employees to continue paying through voluntarily contribution as it will be of great help to everyone especially because it concerns our health.

“ ’Yong mga employees nila ini-encourage namin na i-continue ang contribution para in case of confinement anytime pwede nila magamit, just to make sure lang na naka-update ang kanilang contribution, and they have until September of this year na mabayaran yung mga months na hindi nakahulog o simula no’ng nag-close ang business or temporary closure,” Carlos said.
