The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Culion, Palawan through its “Malasakit sa Edukasyon” program distributed teaching materials such as bond papers and inks in support of the printing of self learning modules for 23 public schools in Culion.
According to the LGU, one of the priorities of the current administration is to focus on quality education in the said town.
The Provincial Government of Palawan (PGP) through the Department of Education (DepEd) is currently distributing more than 20 thousand units of tablets to beneficiary students throughout the Province of Palawan with ₱123M funds for learners’ virtual classes.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte is open to the proposed face-to-face classes in low risk areas or those areas with low COVID-19 cases in the country, according to a statement by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
He said, Duterte and representatives from DepEd are expected to have a meeting to discuss the said matter.
DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malauan said in a press briefing that face-to-face classes will focus on the first key stage, which is the Kindergarten to Grade 3 levels based on the recommendation of Department of Health (DOH) and health experts.
School Year 2021-2022 is expected to open on September 13.
