As the incidence of hunger worsened amid pandemic, representatives from Provincial Nutrition Office of the Palawan Provincial Government launched Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) Assessment of Nutritional Status for parents and children ages 0-59 month on February 7-11 in Barangay Calandagan of the said town.
Both programs were launched to specifically addressed and validate cases of malnutrition in the area.
Health workers also distributed NutriBuns and multivitamins to children, following a feeding program during the event. A deworming activity was also launched through Oplan Goodbye Bulate Program.
Parents and pregnant mothers underwent a nutrition education and assessment under the 1000 days nutrition program that the National Nutrition Council (NNC) is promoting.
A cash assistance coming from Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) was also given to Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) led by Eileen Blanco of NNC-MIMAROPA which focused on Odette affected BNS of Araceli.
A report coming from the office of PNO concluded that based on the Monitoring and Validation of Nutrition Program, Araceli logs a total of 4.63% underweight residents who has a lower weight not ideal for their age.
