As part of the efforts to promote a more stringent campaign to end violence against women and children, the Provincial Government of Palawan, through the Provincial-Inter-Agency Council on Anti-Trafficking, Violence Against Women and their Children and Anti-Child Pornography (PIACAT-VAWC-ACP) held a meeting for gender-based violence on Monday, April 25.
The meeting was attended by representatives coming from different VAWC agencies in the government and was spearheaded by Atty. April Joy Rabang of the Provincial Legal Office. Included among the topics discussed were Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Halfway House Activation of different committees and some updates from the Law Enforcement Agencies TIP cases/operation.
This year, the agency targets to create more programs and information education campaigns for the understanding of R.A 9262 and explain the rights of both women and children in the community. The meeting also highlighted some topics regarding illegal recruitment activities, cybersex, and other threats to both women and children in the province.
With these, the provincial government vows to continue empowering women through campaigns in able to prevent abuses and human trafficking through strong partnership and community collaboration.
