The city government of Puerto Princesa announced that 537 multicab and jeepney drivers from this city were beneficiaries of the P5,000 cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

It said that the payout will be held in May 6 at the Balayong People’s Park. Some 566 beneficiaries will receive the cash assistance including the 537 from Puerto Princesa and 29 from other towns in Palawan.

Aside from DSWD, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will also help verify the qualified beneficiaries to fast track the process of cash assistance release.

“Upang matiyak ang maayos at tamang implementasyon, pinangasiwaan ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Mimaropa ang pagtukoy at beripikasyon ng mga kwalipikadong benepisyaryo,” the CIO explained.

City Mayor Lucilo Bayron expressed his support to this program as this support the transportation sector considered as among those badly hit by the surging fuel prices due to ongoing conflicts in oil producing countries in West Asia.
