Nine (9) scholars of the Palawan Provincial Government have successfully passed the Physician Licensure Examination held this April 2024.

Among the new doctors are Dr. Jezonachin D. Andoy and Dr. Vincent Remy B. Canales from Narra; Dr. Christian Mae B. Baldonado and Dr. Vincent Mea M. Cabanillas from Dumaran; Dr. Carla Christine J. Casicas from El Nido; Dr. Mielyn J. Padul and Dr. Donica Patricia G. Salvino from Roxas; Dr. Brittany Darla E. Dumlao and Dr. Aizie T. Valdez from Puerto Princesa.

These scholars are part of the 12th batch of medical scholars of the Provincial Government through the SPS Alay sa Kabataan-Programang Pang-Edukasyon para sa Palaweño, aimed at providing assistance to deserving students aspiring to pursue medicine and other medical-related courses.

According to Maria Victoria B. Baaco, the Program Manager of SPS Alay sa Kabataan, aside from the scholarship grant, seven of these scholars also availed Review Assistance amounting to P70,000 each, used for their review and examination fees.

Currently, there are a total of 84 medical scholars from the Provincial Government who have successfully passed the licensure examination and are now serving in various hospitals managed by the Provincial Government across Palawan municipalities.

This service commitment is equivalent to the number of years they received scholarship benefits. Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates aims to further strengthen not only the education sector but also the health sector in the province through this scholarship program, ensuring an increased number of medical professionals serving Palawan.
