Travelers along the Puerto Princesa North Road in Taytay, Palawan, can now enjoy a safer and smoother journey thanks to a newly completed asphalt overlay project.
The recently completed 1.4-kilometer asphalt overlay, carried out by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Palawan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO), promises to enhance road durability and improve travel experiences.
The project, which bolsters the lifespan of the existing concrete pavement, is part of broader efforts to maintain vital infrastructure in Palawan, an increasingly important hub for tourism and commerce.
District Engineer Rommel P. Aguirre, in a report to DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald A. Pacanan, emphasized the need to address wear and tear caused by heavy vehicles traversing the national road.
Beyond its technical objectives, the project reflects the region’s focus on providing long-term solutions to road deterioration while improving vehicular flow.
The upgraded road is expected to significantly reduce maintenance costs and ensure uninterrupted travel along this key route, particularly as Taytay sees a rise in visitor numbers.
