The municipality of Brooke’s Point has officially commenced Palawan’s first-ever annual Tech-Voc Month celebration, highlighted by the province’s 1st LGU-led Tech-Voc Day, focusing on community-based training programs and workforce development initiatives across the southern corridor.
Spearheaded by the local government unit in collaboration with the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the month-long observance centers at the Brooke’s Point School of Arts and Trades (BPSAT) office located in the GAD Building, Barangay Tubtub.
The calendar kicked off with simultaneous community-based training programs running from August 19 to 25, 2026, aimed at equipping local residents with direct, employable technical competencies.
The celebration showcases the creative and practical outputs of local participants through diverse competitive exhibitions. Among the highlights are tarpaulin upcycling contests featuring durable bags and pouches crafted from recycled materials, intricate clay bead wearables, traditional mat weaving displays, solar displays of lights, balloon art decorations, table skirting contests, and an extensive board of coconut husk masks featuring both basic and advanced entries, alongside live portrait painting competitions and vibrant public murals celebrating local identity and craftsmanship.
The initiative moves forward today with the 2nd Provincial Community Training and Employment Coordinator (CTEC) meeting on August 24, followed by the formal 1st LGU-led Tech-Voc Day celebration on August 25. The latter aligns with the nationwide observance of National Tech-Voc Day under Republic Act No. 10970, which institutionalized August 25 to promote technical and vocational education and training as a vital component of national development.
Local planners noted that the expanded schedule seeks to align municipal workforce outputs with actual industry demands across Palawan, reinforcing regional technical education programs outside urban centers.
