“The BFAR-MIMAROPA with the effort of Director Elizer S. Salilig and the full support of the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro led by Cong. Josephine Sato and Gov. Eduardo Gadiano, distributed plywood, copper nails and epoxy at Mambuarao as assistance to the fishermen affected by the typhoon,” the statement said.

To recall, 30 units of 20-footer Fiber Reinforced Plastic boats with complete accessories and 18hp diesel engine were officially turned over last week, in a ceremony held in the town of Paluan in Occidental Mindoro. The event was attended by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and local officials of Paluan town and Occidental Mindoro province.

Their office also distributed payaw, and 10 sets of gill net to fishermen in Balete, Gloria, Occidential Mindoro.

Payaw is an artificial fish sanctuary or fish aggregating device, usually made of piled and tied bamboo poles to catch fish. The BFAR also distributed 20 units of crab lift net in the coastal town of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.
