100 units ng chainsaw, ipinagkaloob ng pamahalaang panlalawigan para sa mga ibang sangay ng gobyerno

Nakiisa si Palawan Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates sa isinagawang donation ceremony ng 100 units ng chainsaw sa Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) Training Institute noong Hunyo 30, sa Barangay Irawan, lungsod ng Puerto Princesa.

Ang donasyon ay naglalayong suportahan ang mga lokal na ahensya ng Palawan kabilang ang Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs), iba pang government agencies kabilang ang Bureau of Corrections, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, KAAC, Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, at PPUR Management, sa kanilang adbokasiya na maprotektahan ang kagubatan ng lalawigan.

Ang mga chainsaw na ito ay maglilingkod bilang mahalagang kasangkapan para sa mga proyektong pangkabuhayan at pangangasiwa ng mga gubat sa mga rehiyon na mayroong matatag na plano at regulasyon para sa sustainable logging.

Bilang tumatayong PCSD Chairman, sinabi ni Socrates sa kanyang pananalita, na marapat na katuwang ng mga ahensya at mamamayan any gobyerno sa paglulunsad ng mga proyekto at programang mahalaga para sa kalikasan at komunidad.

“Government is the incarnation, the concrete expression, the personification of the union of will that make a society a community… Kaya, we would take pride into being government workers and of course, we know that the service that we provide as disaster risk responders is not only necessary but also becoming more important everyday as climate change continues to kick in,” ani Socrates.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaloob ng 100 units ng chainsaw, inaasahang magkakaroon ng mas malawak na kakayahan ang mga ahensya sa Palawan na maitaguyod ang kanilang mga adbokasiyang pangkalikasan at mas mapabilis ang pagresponde sa mga sakuna.

Bukod kay Socrates, dumalo rin sa aktibidad sina US Forest Service Program Manager Kyle Horton bilang panauhing pandangal, PCSD Acting Executive Director Niño Rey Estoya, at Board Member Ferdinand Zaballa na tumatayong Vice Chairman ng PCSD
