A total of 1,765 trash bins, equivalent to 89.07 tons of garbage, were collected during the fifth episode of “Save the Puerto Princesa Bays” held on Saturday, October 14, at Liberty Quimzon, Purok Seaside – II, Barangay Bagong Sikat, Puerto Princesa City.

As early as 5 AM, participants gathered for the event, joining in the Zumba dance for some early-morning fun. The Banwa Dance and Arts group also showcased their talents with vibrant performances.

One of the event’s remarkable features was the participation of the Paradise in Heaven Memorial Park, led by Ms. Amy Abela Rioboca, Company Board of Director.

According to the City Information Department, not only did they extend their full support to the event, but they also provided prizes for the Scoop Basura competition. They also organized an EM Mud Ball Throwing activity and contributed to the Coastal Cleanup efforts.

Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron, during his address, emphasized the vital importance of continuing such programs for the well-being of Puerto Princesa Bay and its surrounding areas.

He noted that these efforts yield fruitful results for the ocean and its inhabitants, ensuring a sustainable environment for current and future generations.

Furthermore, the mayor revealed plans to organize a contest aimed at motivating coastal barangays across the city to maintain cleanliness, providing a boost to the collective dream of a cleaner, healthier Puerto Princesa.

With over a thousand participants from various organizations, agencies, and individuals representing both the private and public sectors, the event highlights the community’s commitment to environmental conservation and the shared goal of creating a more sustainable and healthier environment for all.
