Balayong Tree Planting and Nurturing Festival, matagumpay na nailunsad ng Pamahalang Panlungsod

Matagumpay na nailunsad ang 6th Balayong Tree Planting and Nurturing Festival na ginanap noong ika-31 ng Hulyo, sa pangunguna ng City Enro sa katauhan ni Atty. Carlo B. Gomez, City Enro Officer, Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates, mga Konsehal, SK Federation President Myka Magbanua, mga Department of heads sa pangunguna ni Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, Western Command Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Navy, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, at iba pang sangay ng gobyerno, stakeholders, maging ang Pacific Partnership 2022.

Ayon kay Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, mahigit 300 na mga puno ng balayong ang itinabim sa Balayong Park, at nasa mahigit 500 naman ang ni-nurture, sa kabuuang bilang ay mahigit 800 na mga puno ng Balayong, Banaba, Jacaranda.

Aniya, ang lungsod ng Puerto Princesa ay mayroong apat na parks—Rizal Park, Children’s Park, Mendoza Park, at Coliseum Park, at sa kabuuang sukat raw na mayroong 1 1/2 hectare, hindi kayang i-accomodate ang komunidad, dahilan upang itatag ang Balayong People’s Park, kasama na rin sa dahilan ang mabilis na pagtaas ng populasyon ng lungsod.

Ayon naman kay DMO IV Pedro Velasco, OIC ng Cenro, sa pamamagitan ng maraming puno ay mababawasan ng kahit papaano ang init dahil mas magiging malamig ang klima kung maraming punong kahoy, at magiging habitat ng ilan sa hayop, kagaya ng mga ibon at iba pa, na magiging mas kaakit-akit sa mga turista.

“Maaring in the future makikita na natin na dumadami na ang mga turista sa Puerto Princesa na makikita natin, dahil hindi ganong maraming tourist destination, sa pamamagitan ng (pag establish) establishment ng ating Balayong Park ay makakatulong ito para mabawasan ang pagkumpol-kumpol nang mga turista natin sa mga tourist areas,” Ani ni Velasco.

Samantala sa susunod na apat o limang taon ay lalago na ang mga tinanim at ni-nurture na mga balayong trees.
