The Philippines’ biggest media station and oldest in South East Asia officially signed off early evening of May 5, Tuesday in compliance with the cease and desist order issued by the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) due to the absence of Congressional franchise as mandated by law.
ABS-CBN has a TV station in Puerto Princesa City broadcasting all over the province of Palawan, along with DYAP AM Radio and MOR 99.9 FM.
The Kapamilya station was airing in Palawan airwaves since 1991 under its affiliate Palawan Broadcasting Corporation or locally known as DYPR TV-7. It was in 2010 when ABS-CBN purchased DYPR and fully ran and operated the broadcast in Palawan.
The franchise renewal of the said network is still at the Committee on Legislative Franchise at the House of Representatives, which is chaired by Palawan First District Rep. Franz “Chicoy” Alvarez.
