The City Council has approved a resolution requesting the City Government of Puerto Princesa to purchase alcohol breath analyzers to be used in the strict implementation of Anti-Drunk Driving Act of 2013.

City Councilor Jimmy Carbonell, Peace and Order Committee Chair and author of the resolution, told the media in an interview that this resolution is a response to the earlier request of the City Prosecutor’s Office (CPO).

Carbonell stated that the units the city government are going to purchase could be handed over to the City PNP and City Traffic Management Office (CTMO).

Carbonell said an accredited breath analyzer costs around P7,000 each.

He said they are looking forward to buy around 10 units.

“Dahil marami tayong mga motorista na na-i-involve sa vehicular accidents, so that could support the certification of the physician. That will likewise support ‘yong success ng kaso,” said Carbonell.

Carbonell further stated that the City of Puerto Princesa, based on his knowledge since the time he served as its chief of police, has never purchased any alcohol breath analyzer yet.
