City Councilor wants more funds for City Police

A resolution requesting Mayor Lucilo Bayron to allocate more funds for the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Puerto Princesa was pushed at the City Council Monday.

City Councilor Roy Ventura, the author of the resolution said at the plenary this is aimed at further supporting the national government’s war against illegal drugs.

“Dahil po magkakaroon tayo ng preparation ng budget for 2021, kaya po kung kinakailangan po nating dagdagan ang pondo nila at makatulong tayo sa personnel, gagawin po ng Sangguniang Panlungsod,” said Ventura.

“Tulong po para lalo pong mapaigting ‘yong ating laban sa ilegal na droga,” he added.

The City Council on Monday, June 22, invited during the regular session representatives from the Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO) and Puerto Princesa Police Office (PPO) to discuss the recent drug buy-bust operation, which involved some police personnel as suspect.

Stated in the draft title of this Resolution No. 601-2020 is its support to the national government’s goal to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs.
