The City Government has sent more than 2,000 food packs to Barangay Mangingisda on Friday, which is now under extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ), said the City Information Department (CID).

City Information Officer (CIO) Richard Ligad told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Friday, April 17, that the sent food assistance is enough for around seven days of consumption.

“Nag-usap ‘yong kapitan doon at saka ‘yong CDRRMO. Enough ‘yon kasi kay kapitan nanggaling ‘yong figure na dadalhin doon. May buffer ‘yon,” said Ligad.

Ligad said each food pack per household contains 10 kilograms of rice and 14 pieces of assorted canned goods.

Ligad also added that while he is not that familiar on what particular canned goods were sent, he said those do not include sardines.

Mayor Lucilo Bayron on Wednesday ordered a 14-day lockdown of the entire Bgy. Mangingisda after the report reached him that 26 fisherfolk from Iloilo went home to the village on April 8 and 14.

Bayron on Wednesday announced through a live video at the official Facebook page of the City Mayor that Iloilo province has 20 COVID-19 positive patients including that of a community transmission.

On the other hand, Ligad also told Palawan Daily News Friday that no one from Bgy. Mangingisda is yet reported to show COVID-19 symptoms.

Ligad said the residents of the village are also cooperative with the imposed lockdown.
