The City Government of Puerto Princesa led by City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Puerto Princesa the Risography Machines, equipment and supplies which is part of the P40-million allocation of the Local School Board (LSB).
Earlier the LSB, chaired by Mayor Bayron, with members composed of DepEd Division Superintendent Servillano Arzaga, City Councilor Victor Oliveros, City Treasurer Corazon Abayari, SK federation president Myka Magbanua, and General PTCA president Feliza Acosta, reverted the amount of P20-million appropriation from the Annual Budget 2020 and another P20-million from the unappropriated surplus intended for the Priority Education Program of the City.
The Office of the City Mayor through its social media page announced that the equipment and supplies was turned over on Friday, August 14, 2020.
These include 21 units Risography Machines, 21 units Multi-functional binder, one unit high speed Monochrome Printer Riso Comcolor, five units desktop computers, supplies for reproduction of learning modules, and 88 Job Order of Production Workers.
The LSB fund will also shoulder the internet connections of 29 offices in the different schools and the DepEd division offices, and electrical consumption.
The equipment and supplies will be utilized for the reproduction of learning modules to K-12 learners in all public elementary and secondary schools for this coming school year. The expected start of classes through blended learning and other platforms is on August 24, 2020, but DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones announced on Friday that this will be moved to October 5, 2020.
Mayor Lucilo Bayron said that the City Government considers education as foundation of the future of our youth and assured all out support to the DepEd to ensure quality education in the City’s public schools. He emphasized that education is an effective intervention to end the cycle of poverty, that will significantly help change the course of the young peoples lives.
“Life has to go on and the education of our youth must go on. The City DepEd and the City Government of Puerto Princesa is rising up to the challenges and offer the best method to educate the youth on these trying times,” said Mayor Bayron.
