City government’s Caring Program benefits 24,000 senior citizens

The Caring Program for the elderlirs of the City Government of Puerto Princesa has benefited more than 24,000 senior citizens in the past seven years.

The program that was launched in 2013 by City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron started to give out P600 cash in quarterly allowance and was increased to P1200 quarterly in 2017. Currently, P1500 is given out quarterly.

“Magpipitong taon na ang pagpatupad ng mapagkalingang programa para sa mga lolo at lola ng Lungsod,” the Office of the City Mayor said in a statement.

The City Government said that the Caring Program also known as Senior Citizens’ Assistance Program intention is to provide quarterly allowances to all senior citizens registered in their respective barangay senior citizens associations in 66 barangays.

“Nilunsad ni Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron ang “Caring Program” na ito noong October 2013 sa pamamagitan ng paghatid ng quarterly allowance ng lahat na Sr Citizen na registered sa mga Bgy Senior Citizen Association,” a statement from the City Government read.

This June 2020, the City Government released the quarterly allowances of senior citizens in the city’s northeast barangays such as Langogan, Binduyan, Maoyon, Tanabag, Concepcion, San Rafael, Babuyan, Lucbuan, Maruyugon and Manalo.

The City also gave Vitamin C, alcohol, thermometer and soap to all senior citizens.
