A 5-year-old dog, who managed to escape its leash, died after being struck and killed by a delivery van on the side of the road on Thursday night in El Nido, Palawan.

The grieving dog owner is left in shock and despair over the incident that took the life of his beloved companion.

Eyewitnesses have claimed that the driver of the delivery van purposely swerved off the road to target the dog, leaving it critically injured before speeding away callously.

Bong Santillan, the owner of the dog, is devastated by the loss of his furry friend, who was not just a loyal pet but is considered an integral member of his family.

According to Bong, the bond shared between him and his dog was irreplaceable, with years of shared memories and unwavering companionship that now make its tragic death all the more difficult to bear.

The hit-and-run incident has sparked local online debates and conversations in one of El Nido’s forum groups, primarily about animal cruelty and the need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting pets and animals.

The incident has also cast a somber shadow over the community, prompting calls for increased awareness about responsible driving and the importance of treating all creatures with compassion.
