The barangay council of Luzviminda has requested Congressman Gil Acosta Jr to allocate funds for the construction of a wharf in Purok Binunsalian, in their barangay.

Barangay Luzviminda is some 35 kilometers from the city proper of Puerto Princesa.

Liga ng mga Barangay president and punong barangay of Luzviminda, Laddy Gemang said that the Sangguniang Barangay of Luzviminda has formalized their request through a Barangay Resolution for this dream project, the construction of wharf in Purok Binunsalian, a thriving coastal community in their barangay located within Binunsalian Bay, one of the city’s important bay.

The barangay resolution described Binunsalian Bay with rice natural coastal environment where fishing and tourist related activities are present.

But one of the important reason why they are pushing for the said project is a docking place for fisherfolk from the area.

“Kinahanglan nila ug pantalan aron naay maayo nga dunggoanan diha sa Binunsalian. Mao nga ato gyod ni gipadali, hinaut nga maaksyonan sa atong congressman,” (They need a wharf where they can properly dock in Binunsalian. That’s why we are prioritizing this, we hope that our congressman will act on it) Gemang said.

The barangay council in their resolution further state that the proposed project will potentially uplift the social and economic conditions of the Purok Binunsalian residents due to prospective increase in economic activities that will provide jobs and income opportunities for the locals.

The resolution further state that the locals are in dire need of this proposed project and they are hopeful that this wharf when realized will provide convenience to residents, especially the fisherfolk.

“The proposed Construction of Wharf will provide convenience to residents of this Barangay, specially fisherfolk who are in dire need of such facility, as a place where they can safely dock the banca, unload their fishery and marine products, and conduct other activities vital to the local economy,” the resolution reads.
