Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron said that some hotels in Puerto Princesa City are reserved for frontliners and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) since the city government has arranged for the use of these hotels to accommodate frontliners and those OFW who will undergo mandatory quarantine.
He said that there are 20 or more hotel rooms in Citystate Austrias Hotel located in Barnagay Tiniguiban, are reserved for frontliners, while some rooms in Legend Hotel located in Malvar Street are prepared for OFW who will undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Frontliners are medical personnel such as doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel who are unable to return to their homes due to the absence of public transportation. OFW on the other hand are strictly monitored and required to undergo quarantine as part of the protocol.
“Na-arranged natin ang Asturias Hotel ang libreng gamit ng 20 rooms na maari pang dagdagan pag kinakailangan para sa mga medical frontliners natin. Na arrange rin natin ang paggamit ng Legend Hotel para sa mga uuwing OFW na sasailalim ng 14day quarantine,” he said.
Aside from the frontliners and OFW, the city government also prepared an area for local fishermen who travel from other provinces once they return to Puerto Princesa. These fishermen too, in compliance to the protocol are also required to undergo the 14day quarantine.
“Na-arrange sa Legend Hotel ang pag-gamit ng Pandan Resort Island para sa quarantine area ng mga uuwing mangingisda galing sa ibang probinsya,” Mayor Bayron said.
He explained that since the city government wanted to efficiently manage and monitor those considered as patients under investigation (PUI) now known and reclassified by the Department of Health (DOH) as probable Covid case, they contracted one undisclosed local hotel where probable case or PUI will undergo 14-day quarantine.
