Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron has officially announced a significant increase in the financial support for law enforcement personnel in Puerto Princesa City, granting a ₱6,000 quarterly allowance to more than 1,300 officers starting this year.
The program, aimed at recognizing the service and sacrifices of the city’s security forces, doubles the previous monthly subsidy from ₱1,000 to ₱2,000, distributed every three months.
A total of 1,354 personnel are set to benefit from the initiative. The coverage spans across several national and local law enforcement agencies stationed in the city, including:
• Philippine National Police (PNP): City Police Office, Internal Affairs Service (IAS), City Explosives and Canine Unit, Maritime Group, Aviation Security Group, and Highway Patrol Group.
• Specialized Units: Palawan Cyber Response Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
• Correctional and Fire Services: Bureau of Fire Protection (City Fire Station) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP City Jail).
The city government clarified that the allowance is inclusive of all personnel regardless of official rank, including Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP) who hold plantilla positions within these agencies.
According to Mayor Bayron, the adjustment is a direct response to the increasing daily needs and the inherent risks faced by those tasked with maintaining public order.
“Ang allowance na ito ay pagkilala sa mga sakripisyo at dedikasyon ninyo. Kinikilala namin iyan…Nakikita namin ang mga ginagawa ninyo para sa katahimikan ng ating lungsod at para sa mga mamamayan natin.”
The Mayor emphasized that the city government views law enforcers as essential partners in Puerto Princesa’s continued economic growth and development. By addressing their welfare, the administration hopes to strengthen the relationship between the community and the law enforcement sector.
Local officials from the beneficiary agencies have welcomed the move, noting its impact on the field. PLTCOL Rafael Roxas Jr., City Chief of the PPC Forensic Unit, noted that the funds are a significant help for the daily out-of-pocket expenses of police officers.
The quarterly allowance is part of a series of social welfare initiatives under the Bayron administration, which includes expanded benefits for senior citizens and other marginalized sectors, aimed at fostering inclusive governance in the city
