Despite the strict implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine due to COVID-19, some residents of the city seemed to ignore the law and the threat brought by the deadly virus.
Just this afternoon, City Police Station 2 operatives led by Police Captain Alevic Rentino arrested three men for illegal cockfighting in Purok Sariling Sikap, Barangay Bacungan, 1:29 P.M.
Arrested personalities were identified by the police as Joel Tesorio, 40, Government Employee, Randy Penoñal, 37, Teacher and Rodrigo Nuñz, 50, Jobless, all residents of the same barangay.
Police Captain Alevic Rentino said that they conducted Anti- illegal Gambling operation in the area which resulted to the arrest of the suspects.
Confiscated from the area were Php 1,320 bet money, two heads of fighting rooster (alive) and two heads of fighting rooster (dead).
They were held for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Illegal Cockfighting (Tupada) in Relation to RA 11332 Section 9A.
