The local government of Puerto Princesa City launched its pilot vaccination against COVID-19 for minors ageing 12 to 17-years old today, October 30, 2021.
According to the live update of the Puerto Princesa City COVID Vaccination Council (PPC-COVAC) on October 29, 2021, adolescents in the Pedeatric A3 category or those with comorbidity will be prioritize in the vaccination program located in front of the COOP Hospital.
Minors with health conditions such as Medical Complexity (long dependence in tech support), Genetic Conditions such as down syndrome, Neurological Conditions such as seizure disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASDs), Chronic Respiratory Diseases, Renal Disorders, Tubercolosis, Hepabiliary Disease, Cardiovascular disease, Immunocompromised state due to disease or treatment, Metabolic/Endocrine diseases, obesity, or Human Immunideficiency Virus (HIV) are those eligible to get inoculated.
Adolescents with their guardians or parents older than 21-years old should bring necessary documentation such as QR code, medical certificate, valid id, and proof of filiation to be able to go through with the vaccination.
Dra. Ruffia Atencio, Incident Management Team Safety Officer and City Health Medical Officer, stated that only Pfizer vaccines will be used for inoculating the particular demographic.
According to the published report by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in August, usual side effects of vaccines are seen in adolescents adverse effects were rare after getting jabbed with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Other scheduled barangay vaccinations are on November 4 and 5 in Iwahig, and November 6 in urban barangays.
Meanwhile, 68,761 of the eligible population are now fully vaccinated while 23,284 awaiting for their second doze.
