The local government of Puerto Princesa started distributing farming equipment for Seaweed planters or growers in support of the Seaweed industry in the city on September 3.
This project, Sustainable Income Generating Support Project to Fisherfolks, is by the city’s Agricultural Office in order to assist the Seaweed Farmers in increasing their harvest and profit.
First to benefit from the said project is the Salvacion Seaweed Farmers Association which received 10 sets of equipment used for farming, 650 kg of seaweed seedlings, materials for a 200-square meter area seaweed floating drier, and 5 units of fiberglass reinforced-plastic paddleboats.
The Seaweed Planters Association of Sta. Cruz also received support from this project. These are materials for a 200-square meter area seaweed floating drier and 5 unit fiberglass reinforced plastic paddleboats.
The mentioned program was led by the City Agriculturist Melissa Macasaet and local officials of the 2 barangays.
