The city government has bolstered its operational capacity by acquiring three new vehicles for logistics, health transport, and disaster communication, an essential upgrade in a municipality sprawling across 66 barangays and vulnerable to climate-driven hazards.
At a ceremony on August 18 led by Rev. Fr. Manny Dormile, Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, department heads, and Sangguniang Panlungsod members formally blessed the vehicles. Among them, a Fuso Canter truck will support the General Services Office in ferrying equipment across Puerto Princesa’s vast terrain.
The City Health Office received a Toyota Commuter Patient Transport Vehicle (PTV), gratefully facilitated by the PCSO, to serve as a mobile ambulance reaching remote barangays.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was allocated a Nissan Urvan Communication Van, designed to enhance coordination during calamities.
Agencies described the additions as vital tools for “more efficient and humane public service.”
Puerto Princesa spans some 2,381 square kilometers and comprises 66 barangays, 35 urban and 31 rural. The city’s dispersed geography poses logistical intricacies, especially for health and emergency response in remote areas.
