The novel Coronavirus is affecting not just humans but many industries including the tourism industry like in the case of Puerto Princesa where two cruise ships scheduled to visit this February won’t be allowed to push through with the stopover.

City Assistant Tourism Officer Demetrio Alvior confirmed that Seabourn Ovation and Silver Spirit are not going to dock in Puerto Princesa Bay due to the order of the national government that they cannot enter the Philippines due to the precautionary measures being implemented against Coronavirus.

Seabourn Ovation is reportedly coming from China and will pass Hong Kong before going to Palawan, while the Silver Spirit almost got an approval since it is coming from Vietnam. However, there is a reported possible nCoV case so the entire cruise is being quarantined.

But there is one cruise ship scheduled to arrive in the City this Sunday, Feb 9. AIDAvita Cruise ship is coming from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and is still waiting clearance from Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) team.

“Mukhang may chance na matuloy to sila wait na lang kami ng advise from CIQS on going pa ang checking sa ngayon,” Alvior said.

There are some lined up cruises scheduled in March that were refused by the National Government, Alvior said, to avoid being affected by the deadly virus that killed almost 600 people in China with 30,000 infected as per report of their National Health Commission.

“Nag-aantay lang kami, siyempre sunod tayo sa national law natin, precaution muna tayo,” Alvior added.
