The City Health Office (CHO) reminded the public to stay healthy and keep everything in moderation during the holiday season.
Dr. Ricardo Panganiban, CHO chief, told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Thursday it is important that people keep their health habits on track during the holidays when excessive indulgence in food and liquor seem inevitable.
“Huwag po nating kakalimutan ‘yong tamang pahinga [at] exercise,” he added.
Panganiban said it is usually during Christmas and New Year celebrations that people become more prone to diseases due to overindulgence in food.
He said common during festive seasons are hypertension, heart-related problems, and stroke.
On the other hand, Panganiban said irresponsible consumption of alcohol is also observed to cause road accidents.
Meanwhile, he noted that victims of firecracker-related injuries are continuously decreasing in Puerto Princesa.
In case of medical emergencies during this holiday season, Panganiban said CHO has seven 24-hour-serving satellite clinics in the rural barangays of the city.
He said these satellite clinics are located both in the southern and northern villages of the city namely Barangays Salvacion, San Rafael, Buenavista, Cabayugan, Mangingisda, Napsan, and Inagawan.
Each of these seven satellite clinics has three stationed nurses and one ambulance except for Brgy. Buenavista, which for the meantime shares the vehicle of its nearby clinics.
He added, the Kilos Agad Action Center (KAAC) is tasked to respond on the cases within the urban areas of the city.
