Eight northeastern barangays in Puerto Princesa City will be the site for this year’s Pista Y ang Kagueban (PYAK) on Saturday, July 2, 2022. These are barangay San Rafael, Lucbuan, Maoyon, Concepcion, Tanabag, Binduyan, Babuyan and Langogan.
Photo shows the City ENR Officer, Atty. Carlo B. Gomez presided over the meeting with his staff for the tasking of working committees, and the site preparation made by the City ENRO personnel, such as strip brushing, hole digging, transport, and hauling of seedlings, and other preparations, etc.
PYAK is a Cuyuno dialect that means “Pista ng Kagubatan” was conceptualized by the then Palawan Integrated Area Development Project Office (PIADPO) in 1991, intended to institutionalize the protection and conservation of the environment for the youth.
The first Pista Y Ang Kagueban was held in June 1991. It was in that same year the United Nations declared the month of June as Environment Month.
