Puerto Princesa, Philippines – The City Government of Puerto Princesa has clinched four prestigious awards in the 2023 Cities and Municipalities Index (CMCI), a nationwide ranking that featured the participation of 1,000 local government units throughout the Philippines.
Within the group of 33 Highly Urbanized Cities across the nation, Puerto Princesa has secured notable rankings:
Rank 16 for Most Competitive in Economic Dynamism Pillar
Rank 17 for Most Competitive Efficiency Pillar
Rank 6 for Most Competitive Infrastructure Pillar
Rank 14 for Most Competitive in Resiliency Pillar
In the overall evaluation, the city stands impressively at the 15th spot as the Most Competitive City overall and holds the 5th position for the Most Improved ranking. In a letter received from DTI Regional Director Rodolfo J. Mariposque, CESO IV, warm congratulations were extended to the City Government of Puerto Princesa, under the leadership of Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron.
Director Mariposque expressed his belief in the city’s ability to not only maintain its current rankings but also potentially surpass them in the coming year.
The official also conveyed gratitude for the city’s active participation in promoting regional competitiveness as a means to elevate national competitiveness.
The CMCI, endorsed by the Department of Trade and Industry, is an annual ranking of cities and municipalities that began in 2012. It assesses local government units in their capacity for economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.
Puerto Princesa first joined the CMCI in 2015 and in 2020 achieved the distinguished honor of being the Most Improved Highly Urbanized City.
