Participants of the workshop from the provincial and city government confirmed that the prime movers of the Race for Water Foundation told them that they wanted Puerto Princesa as among the pilot area for the Plastic Waste to Energy Project.

The Race for Water Foundation, which has been crisscrossing the oceans since April 2017 on its five-year worldwide odyssey, campaigning to save oceans from plastic pollution. The foundation has three existing study in Peru, Easter Island, and Dominican Republic for the plastic waste to energy project.

Race for Water Foundation said that its newest prospective pilot site is the locality of Bora Bora, a small island in South Pacific northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. The mayor of Bora Bora, Gaston Tong Sang attended the plastic waste to energy workshop

The Biogreen technology involves pyrolysis, which is a high-temperature thermochemical conversion in the absence of oxygen.

The process started with the waste such as plastic, waste tires, and other plastic waste materials undergo mechanical treatment which is the preparation of material for pyrolysis application.

The plastic waste materials, then in the form of pellet/ granules, are processed into syngas, and finally the syngas into electricity and heat.

The generated electricity and heat can be used for off-grid and on-grid application.
