Inaprubahan sa ginanap na regular na sesyon ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan nitong nakalipas na Miyerkules, Enero 17, ang isang resolusyon na nag-aapruba na manatili muna sa pwesto si BM Purita Serguritan habang wala pang bagong IPMR representative na nailuluklok.

Sa pamamagitan nitong resolusyon pinamagayang, “A resolution expressing support to the hold-over capacity of Hon. Purita J. Seguritan, Provincial IPMR to remain in office until such time the new selected Provincial IPMR secure his/her certificate of affirmation,” ay pahihintulutan ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan na manatili sa kanyang panunungkulan si  Seguritan bilang Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) habang hindi pa natutukoy at wala pang Certificate of Affirmation (COA) ang susunod na IPMR ng lalawigan na nakatakdang umupo sa puwesto ngayong taon.

Sa naging mensahe ni Seguritan, ipinaliwanag nito na ang naturang desisyon ay base sa napagkasunduan ng siyam na tribu sa Palawan upang hindi mabakante ang posisyon at patuloy na magkaroon ng kinatawan sa Provincial Board.

 

Matatandaan na noong Disyembre 7-8 ng nakalipas na taon, ay nagkaroon ng pagtitipon ang lahat ng IPMRs mula sa iba’t ibang munisipyo at barangay sa lalawigan kasama ang mga IP leaders ng kani-kanilang mga lugar sa isinagawang “2022 IPMR Year End Convention” na pinangunahan ng Provincial IPMR upang talakayin at ihanda ang lahat ng mga mahahalagang dokumento ng IPMR para sa napipintong pagtatapos ng kanyang termino upang mas maging maayos ang magiging transition ng kanyang panunungkulan sa bagong mamumuno ng IPMR.

 

Kasabay nito ay matagumpay ding natukoy ang susunod na mauupo bilang bagong IPMR ng lalawigan at ito ay ang Tribong Cuyunon na mula sa bahaging norte ng Palawan.

 

“Noon pong December 7-8, nagkaroon kami ng Convention at napagkasunduan po ng 9 na tribu,  sa akin pong initiative para malaman ang susunod na tribu na uupo bilang Provincial IPMR. Napagkasunduan po namin nung time na yon na ang napili na susunod ay Tribung Cuyunon at ‘yun po ay mula sa norte,”ani Seguritan.

 

“Sa kagustohan din po ng lahat ng tribo, napagkasunduan din po na may hold over capacity ako na 3 months at ‘yun ay hanggang May. Napag-isipan at napagkaisahan din na sana hindi pwedeng mabakante ang opisina ng IPMR. Kasunod noon ay napagkasunduan din at naroon sa aming minutes na habang wala pang COA o Certificate of Affirmation ang Tribung Cuyunon na uupo sa Provincial Board ay uupuan muna ng Tribung Palaw’an at ‘yun po ay ako,” dagdag niya.

 

Matatandaang si BM Seguritan ay mula sa Tribong Palaw’an at pormal na nanumpa sa tungkulin bilang ex-officio member ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan noong Pebrero 11, 2022.
