San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has donated Magnolia Chicken Products worth P500 thousand to Puerto Princesa City as an assistance to the city while the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) is still in effect.
SMC is one of the country’s largest and most diversified conglomerates, through its integrated operations in food and beverages, packaging, fuel and oil, power and infrastructure.
In his letter dated April 25, 2020 addressed to Ramon S. Ang, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of San Miguel Corporation through Francisco S. Alejo III of San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc., Mayor Bayron thanked the company for donating P500,000.00 worth of Magnolia Chicken Products to the city of Puerto Princesa.
He said that since the implementation of the Luzon-wide ECQ and the cancellation of flights, there are shortages of chicken meat and other similar products.
“Because of the flight suspensions to and from the city since March 15, 2020, we have had shortages in chicken meat and similar products, thereby affecting the food nutritional requirements of our people,” Mayor Bayron said in his letter.
He further said that the help extended by SMC which he described as “heaven-sent” is a big help to the city, especially its residents while in ECQ.
“The arrival therefore of this P500,000.00 worth of Magnolia Chicken Products is heaven-sent. That you donated them to us even without us asking you for them makes the gesture even purer and sweeter,” his letter read.
