The barangay captain of Mangsee, Balabac, Palawan was shot dead by authorities after he allegedly resisted arrest when he was served with search warrant at 3 a.m. on June 15.
Barangay Captain Pistoh Akin Hamjah, listed as the high value target by the authorities, was dead on the spot during the search, while Jaulkanain Usman, alias “Haji Bittoh”, escaped from the raiding the team, and is now at large.
Joint personnel of PDEU-Palawan, Balabac MPS, PDEA MIMAROPA, WESCOM Philippine Marines, PNP Maritime Group, and PCG implemented a search warrant for Violation of RA 9165 against the said suspects which resulted to the death of the barangay captain.
Recovered from the house of Hamjah were five pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected “shabu” and a piece magazine of unknown caliber while the items confiscated from the resident of Usman were three pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets.
The confiscated items are now under the custody of PDEU-Palawan for proper disposition.
