Maraming mga establisiyemento sa bayan ng El Nido ang hindi nakasunod sa pagtapon sa Centralized Sewerage Treatment Plant. Ito ang napag-alaman sa multi-agency meeting na isinagawa kamakailan sa Kapitolyo.

Kasama sa pulong ang mga kinatawan ng Environmental Management Bureau -Regional Office ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources, sa pangunguna ng EMB Assistant Regional Director-Mimaropa ng DENR, Regional Director ng Department of Tourism at iba pa.

 

Sinabi ni Atty. Aquino, “Napag-usapan doon yung bagsak pa rin ang maraming sites sa El Nido. Pagkatapos yung hindi maraming establishments ang nakakonekta sa ating centralized sewage treatment plant.”

 

Sinabi ni Aquino, nagpahayag ng proposal ang EMB na bawalan ang mga bangka (boat) na tumatakbo sa mga primary destination sites ng El Nido nguni’t pansamantala ay wala pang ipinalalabas na konkretong aksyon hinggil rito.

 

Idinagdag pa na pahayag ni Aquino ang problema hinggil sa presensiya ng E. coli (E. coli is considered to be the species of coliform bacteria that is the best indicator of fecal pollution and the possible presence of pathogens) sa katubigan ng El Nido.

 

Kaugnay nito, hinihiling ng pamahalaang lokal na magsumite ng comprehensive action plan kasabay ng suhestiyon ng PG-ENRO, na hindi lamang nararapat tutukan ang carrying capacity ng small at big lagoon bagkus ay dapat isama na ang total carrying capacity ng buong El Nido.

 

Sinabi ni Aquino sa nabanggit na pulong, “ang sabi ko, ang basura, ang polusyon, lahat ay contributory sa dami o influx ng tao. Kung ang Boracay few years ago ay mayroon nang tinatawag na carrying capacity, it’s high time na magkaroon na rin ang naturang bayan.”

 

Ipinahayag pa ni Aquino na ang suhestiyon niyang naturan ay mabilis na sinang-ayunan ng mga presente sa nabanggit na pagpupulong.

 

Samantala ang WAQMA o water quality management area dulot ng pagbagsak ng El Nido sa water sampling ay muling palalawakin o i-revitalize na kung saan ang mga pangrehiyong tanggapan ang siyang magiging punong abala kaagapay ng lokal na pamahalaan.

 

Kasabay nito, magpapatupad ang pamahalaang lokal ng seryosong kampanya hinggil sa pagkokonekta ng nalalabing mayorya mula sa 900+ establishments na nakasama sa Sewerage Treatment Plant dahil sa tanging 57 lamang ang compliant at konektado sa planta dulot na rin ng reklamo ng maraming negosyante na lubhang mataas ang sinisingil na bayarin para dito.

 

Sa kabuuan, inaasahang mailalapat ang bawat anggulo ng isyu bago ipasa sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Palawan ang komprehensibong action plan para sa bayan ng El Nido bilang pangunahing tourist destination sa bansa na nagbigay na rin ng maraming pagkilalang pang-internasyunal.
