Barely four days before Christmas, Palaweno award winning Film Director Dante Nico Garcia announced his latest works thru online platform Indiegogo, a crowd funding site that aims to empower entrepreneurs by enabling them to start their own campaign and provide an avenue to showcase their works with the opportunity to be noticed by investors.
Garcia teamed up with PRIMECom Corporation, a Canadian Radio Television Telecommunication Commission that produces content for OMNI TV mostly Filipino shows featuring professionals in Engineering, Health, Real Estate and Media industry.
“Feb 15, 2021 e-ere ang isang TV show na ang title ay “Filipinow”, magku-kumare ito na nagkukuwentuhan lang kung ano ‘yung mga up and coming sa youtube, ano ‘yung magandang pag-tsikahan, ano ‘yung mga magandang sites, pero lahat ng nire-review nila may advocacy, so basically ‘yung mga kinukuwento nila yung mga ginagawa ng Casa Nieves Pictures,” Garcia said.
Three video content are in the bag to be aired in Filipinow, the first is Daniw TV featuring Palawan’s active naturalist Daniw Arrazola of Bahay Kalipay; the Palawan Concierge to be hosted by Garcia that talks about travel and lifestyle in the island of Palawan; and a religious show in Cuyonon dialect called “Sigon Ki Lolo” that tackles the Way of the Cross story of Jesus Christ during Lenten season.
The said three shows will be aired first in Canada and later on to be broadcasted too in different local media platforms including Palawan Daily. Anyone can help in producing these content through donations that starts from as low as $5 up to $10,000.
“Dito sino-shoot pero kina-crowd fund natin para hindi kayo mamumuhunan, magaan kasi may pinagdanan naman tayo lahat, sa Indiegogo pwede kayo mag donate mula $5, 5 Canadian Dollar hanggang $10,000 depende sa perks na gusto mong makuha, kumbaga gusto mo lang pasalamatan sa Twitter or gusto mo branded as producer depende na do’n, mamimili ka do’n may menu kung paano ka tutulong,” Garcia explain.
The following concept according to Garcia is 11 years in the making, and it’s not just a TV show because the plan is wider than you can expect it, longer terms includes offering livelihood and putting up animation studios and craft shops as alternative source of income for those who will be part of the show.
“Ang cause no’n is to put up an animation studio para ma-employ ‘yung mga boatmen sa Underground River na walang kita ngayon, 84 sila hindi naman mafi-fill up ‘yun anytime soon kumbaga andami sa kanila ang walang trabaho, so ‘yung mga animations nila dadalhin sa computer mag work from home, animation studio na sina-submit lang nila, ‘yun ang objective wellness and family,” Garcia said.
Garcia is known for his movie “Ploning” that stars Judy Ann Santos, a full length Cuyonon film shot in Cuyo and became the entry of Philippines in the prestigious Oscar Academy Awards. Among his other films includes “Madaling Araw Mahabang Gabi”, “OMG (Oh My Girl)”, Mrs. Recto and a lot more.
