Palawan born rapper “Nelle” releases new single entitled “Palaweño”, a rap song that talks about the beauty and rich culture of the island province of Palawan, that he personally composed with a message to his kababayan, to take care of our beautiful place.
27 years old Nelle is Conrad Nell Villasoto Fabrigas from Brgy. San Jose here in Puerto Princesa. He started making rap songs in 2013 with his crew the Desperados. Since then, he didn’t stop writing songs that led him to create his music channel in Youtube. As of now, he has created a total of 14 songs.
“Bilang Palaweño po na inspire akong gumawa ng kantang patungkol sa lugar natin, isang bagay na rin na dito ako pinanganak at naisip ko na rin na marami talagang maipagmamalaki ang lugar ng Palawan at Puerto Princesa hindi lang sa yamang natural pati na rin sa kasaysayan at kultura,” Nelle said.
According to Nelle, his style of writing songs is by storytelling that comes with deep meaning, and relatable to many. It is just a hobby at first and later last year he decided to make it his career. Aside from his channel he also uploads his music thru Sound Cloud.
Among his influences includes rapper Eminem, Tupac, Loonie, Gloc 9 among others. He is open also in doing collaboration projects with other local crew.
Nelle graduated BS Marine Transportation at Palawan Polytechnic College, Inc, just last December he finished Navy Reservist program.
“Bale naka-compose na po ako ng almost 14 songs na solo ko, at sa bawat kanta ko na naisulat tumutukoy ito hindi lang pamagat bagkus may kahulugan pang malalim, mas nais ko gumawa ng kantang good vibes lang na lahat makaka-relate rin,” Fabrigas added.
Nelle used to emcee in some past rap battle competitions usually held in Baywalk early 2013, until he joined his crew the Desperados before going solo as artist. He admits that his fellow rappers are the one who inspired him to create rap songs. He worked before in a fast food chain before pandemic hits.
“Sa ngayon po na stop ako sa work simula nagka-COVID, hindi na rin ako nakabalik sa dating job ko kasi wala pang magbabantay sa anak ko, kaya mas pinili ko na lang na bantayan anak ko,” Nelle explain.
