On board cruise ship MS Westerdam which docked at Puerto Princesa this morning, March 2, tourists drove into the Palawan Heritage Center (PHC) located inside the Provincial Hall Building.
PHC Chief Administrative Mary Rose Palanca – Caabay welcomed the visitors. Intern students from BA in Philippine Studies and BS in Tourism of Palawan State University (PSU) gave the tourists a tour of the heritage center, explaining items on display in the heritage center: paintings and old photographs of different areas of the province; historical items recovered from caves; tools used by Tabon cave men from Quezon, and some early Chinese ceramics recovered from different locations in Palawan.
The MS Westerdam is a vista-class cruise ship operating under Holland America Line. It has an estimated 1,800 tourists on board and 1,000 crew members.
It sailed to Palawan from Singapore and Indonesia and is scheduled to visit Boracay Island in the coming days before it leaves the country.
It’s the second cruise ship that ventured into Puerto Princesa since the pandemic outbreak.
There are still four additional cruise ships that is scheduled to dock at Puerto Princesa Port on March 2, 4, 5, and 7.
