Palaweña broadcaster and photo journalist Jofelle Tesorio is now selling her personal calendar featuring photos of places in The Netherlands where she lived for more than 10 years already. She personally captured all the photos featured in the 2021 calendar, to which the proceeds will be converted as Noche Buena basket for selected families in need from Puerto Princesa.
The former DYSP Super Radyo and DYPR announcer said that it is her tradition in the past years making calendars for family and friends, but with the pandemic she decided to use it as a way to help her kababayans.
“This year I thought of doing it to sell to friends, and part of the proceeds will go to a good cause this Christmas. I’ve always been inspired by the beauty of nature, cities and villages, and the little details. Tapos with COVID, I think people are more nostalgic since they have stopped travelling and seeing more places and people,” Tesorio said.
Each calendar costs 20 Euro (P1,160), and for those who will order from the Philippines, she has a partner printing house that will print and ship it wherever you are. The good thing about this personalized calendar is that the photos are arranged by season matches the month of the year. Plus the paper she uses is of quality that you can write on using a permanent marker. The can also be recycled after the year ends by cutting and framing the photos so you can hang them on your walls.
“I use more than 12 photos on the calendar kasi sometimes I have about four photos per month to make a variation in the layout. But some photos are better enlarged, like for example a tulip field or a panoramic view of Bern,” Tesorio said.
To order the calendars, you can message her thru messenger or whatsapp and she can discuss with you the mode of payment. There is no limit to the number of orders, according to Jofelle. She prints it whenever there is an order and no deadlines, too, for now, but make sure to place the order before Christmas so the beneficiaries could use the Noche Buena basket on the eve of the holiday.
“I plan to donate some of the proceeds for the noche buena packages of some needy families in Puerto, especially those who have been hit by the COVID pandemic. I don’t have a target how many because it depends on the outcome. I started in December 2 so it’s kinda late to expect a lot of orders,” Tesorio added.
Before moving to The Netherlands, Jofelle was the editor of Bandillo ng Palawan and correspondent for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. In Europe she is a news correspondent for Women Writing Women, ABS-CBN and The Filipino Channel and an academic researcher.
