HE was dubbed as the “Abra” of Palawan, from the looks and the way he sounds, no doubt he was so similar to this young popular rapper in the Philippines, but Reomar Respicio aka Respi wants to do more and use his talent to another level, which is spreading the word of God thru Rap music.

Respi who hails from Tacras in the town of Narra, started his rap career at the age of 15 by listening to Andrew E and Salbakuta, but it was Gloc 9 who inspired him to write and compose songs that delivers message. From there, he became part of Rappers Association in Palawan, hosted rap battle in Palawakan Rap Palawan, and later on created his own channel online. Some of his trending songs are Panandalian, Chismosa, Respeto and others.

“Nakakatuwa pakinggan, pero ayon darating talaga ‘yung time na magbabago ka ng style which is ‘yung original style mo lang talaga, hanggang ngayon ando’n pa rin ‘yung comparison na ginagaya ko raw si Abra sa boses gano’n, sa totoo lang in reality talaga this time nahanap ko na talaga kung ano talaga ako, mas masarap ang pakiramdam na manggaling talaga na respi talaga,” Respi said.

At 25 now, Respi admits his music really tone down in general, this is after he witnessed an encounter with the lord during this pandemic, to which he became active member of Jesus Christ The River of Life Church, most of his videos and songs nowadays are all inspired by his faith, and he aims to encourage others to do the same.

“Para sa akin gusto ko talaga Christian rapper talaga ako, kahit ano mangyari gusto ko mapatunayan na ang rap ay pwedeng gamitin sa magandang paraan, which is para sa Lord hindi lang para sa sarili, para ma encourage ‘yung ibang tao na lumapit sa Lord,” Respi shared.

A graduate of Computer programing at Puerto Princesa School of Science And Technology, Respi is currently employed as Visual Merchandiser in Robinsons Department Store Palawan. He said there are over 20 songs he composed and many will be uploaded soon, he is open for collaboration but he admits he’s kind ‘a choosy since he prefers those who share the same faith and vision in serving the lord.

“Napakasarap po ng pakiramdam kapag naranasan nyo ang Lord ng personal, talagang hindi mo ma-contain ‘yung naranasan mo kasi totoo eh, hindi ito ‘yung nabasa ko lang sa bible, personal kong naranasan at ‘yun ‘yung dahilan kung bakit hindi mo ma-contain na i-share ng i-share, naranasan mo eh,” Respi added in closing.
