18-day kampanya laban Violence Against Women at Human Trafficking, isasagawa sa Capitol

Magsasagawa ang Provincial Inter-Agency Council ng 18-day kampanya laban at sa pagwawakas ng Violence Against Women (VAW) kung saan ang programa ay magkakaroon ng temang “United for a VAW-free Philippines” alinsunod sa mandato ng Proclamation 1172 Series of 2006 Against Trafficking and Child Pornograpy.

Ito ay magsisimula na sa araw ng Biyernes, bukas, Nobyembre 25, at na magtatagal hanggang Disyembre 12.

Matutunghayan bukas ang kick-off activity kaugnay ng programa at magkakaroon ng press conference sa VJR Hall na lalahukan ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Provincial Government, Coast Guard District – Palawan, pati na rin ang mga lokal na mamamahayag ng Palawan.

 

Ang naturang Violence Against Women (VAW) ay naglalayon na maghatid ng Information, Education, and Communication sa mga mamamayan ng lalawigan ng Palawan.

 

Ito na rin ay dahil sa pagpapaigting ng R.A 10364 at R.A 11862 na pinapangunahan ng  R.A 9208 o mas kilala sa tawag na “Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003” na ipinasa upang mawakasan ang trafficking ng mga tao, lalong-lalo na sa mga babae at kabataan, upang maparusahan na rin ang mga lalabag sa naturang batas.

Mababanggit din sa talakayan ang R.A 10364 o “Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Acts of 2012” na siyang inamendyahan at pinalawak ng R.A 9208 upang magbigay proteksyon pa sa mga biktima ng trafficking at maparusahan ang mga lumalabag sa batas na ito, pati na rin ang paglalaan ng pondo para sa mga naturang biktima.

 

Ayon kay Milma Sangkula, Peace and Order Program Officer 4, umaabot na sa 90% ang mga turista na pumupunta sa lungsod at lalawigan ng Palawan, kaya pinapaigting nito ang pagbabantay sa mga munisipyo, tulad ng bayan ng Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, Balabac, at Rizal na dadaan sa exit point ng Malaysia, na possible ring daanan ng human trafficking incidents.

 

Karamihan umano ng nabibiktima sa nasabing human trafficking ay ang mga menor de edad na nagtatrabaho sa mga bar na ginagawang prostitute.

 

 

Nasa datos din ng DSWD ang mga munisipyo at barangay na prone sa human trafficking:

Northern Palawan – El Nido (Barangay Poblacion at Dipnay), Taytay (Barangay Liminangcong), San Vicente, Barangay Port Barton, Cuyo, Coron, at Busuanga.

 

Southern Palawan – Brooke’s Point (Barangay Boligay, Oring-Oring), Rio Tuba (Bataraza), Sapa, Sumbiling, Barangay Buliluyan, Balabac, Barangay Mangsi, Bugsuk, Bancalaan, Barangay Matangguli, Sofronio Espanola, at Barangay Pulot Shore.

Bahagya din namang bumaba ang human trafficking noong pandemic, ngunit ngayon ay mayroon naman umano na napapaulat na mga kaso ng human trafficking, partikular na sa Southern Palawan.

 

Dahil sa naiulat, nakikipag-ugnayan na ang DSWD sa mga Law Enforcement Units ang mga kapulisan, pati na rin sa Philippine Coast Guard, upang makipagtulungan silang madetect ang mga area of responsibility ng mga nabibiktima dahil hirap din naman silang matukoy ang mga ito.
