500 mga persons deprived of liberty, 34 mula sa Iwahig, laya na ngayong araw

Mahigit sa 500 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) ang pinalaya ngayong araw ika- 19 ng Disyembre na mula sa iba’t ibang kulungan sa bansa na nasa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng Bureau of Corrections.

Mula sa bilang na ito, kinumpirma ni Corrections Technical Officer II Levi Evangelista, tagapagsalita ng IPPF, 34 sa mga lumaya ngayong araw ay mula sa Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm ng Palawan.

 

Ipinahayag ni PAO Chief Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta na ang proseso ng pagbibigay kalayaan sa mga persons deprived of liberty ( PDL) ay resulta, matapos na sumailalim sa pagsala, pagtasa,at malalimqang beripikasyon ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang records ng mga bilanggo.

 

Kabilang sa mga Malaya na ngayong araw na ito ay yaong mga nakatatanda, mga may sakit, mga nakatapos na ng pagsisilbi sa kanilang sentensya at mga nagpakita ng mabuting asal kaya nabigyan ng Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA).

 

Ang culminating activity para sa pagpapalaya naman ng 328  ng pinalayang persons deprived of liberty ay isinagawa sa Bureau of Corrections, National Headquarters, Muntinlupa City, na kung saan ito ay pinangunahan nina Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla, Atty. Persida Rueda Acosta, Pinuno ng Public Attorneys Office at Genaral Gregorio Pio P. Catapang, Jr, AFP(Ret.),CESE, Bureau of Corrections Acting Director General.
