Pinoy folk-pop and pop rock 9-piece band, Ben&Ben, has just released a new song that talks about closure and everything that was never said between two lovers who have decided to go on separate ways, entitled, “The Ones We Once Loved”, on midnight of today, Friday, August 26.
Inspired by the band’s frontman and one of the twins, Paolo Benjamin’s long-term relationship with his ex-girlfriend, he said that the journey of them both had been about “self-discovery, healing, and growth” for both of them, individually.
“Eventually, peace, acceptance, respect for the past, and closure came. It wasn’t easy, and there were many emotions that went into that process,” said Paolo in a note published on their official page just a few hours before the release of the song.
“So my prayer is that if you are going through your own process right now, or there are unspoken feelings or thoughts you may still have, may this song help you through them,” he further said.
A glimpse of the lyrics would surely knock one’s never-thought-it-still-hurt memories as one remembers some words that they still wanted to impart to their then significant other:
“Did it ever cross your mind that maybe you hurt me too? But I am not taking it against you. Since the beginning, I never wanted anything, but to see you reach your dreams,”
One of its key lyrics talked about the frontman’s five-year long relationship wherein they both have shared their youth together–memories of traveling, fights and make-ups, touch, plans for the future, and whatnots–giving past jitters to anyone who gets to listen to the song.
“The Ones We Once Loved” might be one of the few songs that Ben&Ben will release before the take-off for their North America tour, soon, this year.
