Floods hit parts of Metro Manila, Luzon provinces due to monsoon rains

Several areas in Metro Manila on Wednesday, July 21, were flooded due to monsoon rains, which were exacerbated by the typhoon Fabian.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday that the floodwaters from gutter-deep to knee-deep caused heavy traffic.

Southwest monsoon continues to bring heavy rains in some parts of National Capital Region (NCR) and different provinces as of today, July 22.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said that as of 4:20 PM today, some areas are flooded, but still passable to all types of vehicles.

A Red Warning Level has been raised in Oriental Mindoro, Zambales and Bataan severe flooding is expected in flood prone areas and near river channels.

An Orange Warning Level has been raised in Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga and Occidental Mindoro, with threats on flooding.

A Yellow Warning Level has been raised in Palawan (Calamian Group of Islands), Benguet, La Union, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Nueva Ecija, flooding is possible in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.

The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advice to monitor the weather condition.
