Some 10,000 children aged 5 to 11 years old have received their first doses of vaccine in the initial rollout of the pediatric vaccination against COVID-19 on its first day, Monday, said by the Department of Health (DOH) today, February 8, 2022.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview with ABS-CBN Teleradyo, the flow of the vaccination of the kids went well. There were 32 vaccination sites that catered 9,784 children, and reported only one minor that showed an adverse reaction after immunization.
Currently in the city of Puerto Princesa, Jerry who is a father to two five-year-old kids are hesitant yet anticipating the upcoming pediatric vaccination in the city even there is still no announcement from the local government for the kickoff drive.
“Ayaw ko pa talaga, kakatapos ko lang nung akin nung Disyembre eh,” the resident of Santa Monica said.
“Pero syempre sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, kailangan na rin sumunod sa gobyerno, mga bata yan na mahina rin talaga sa panahon na ito eh, kaya kapag nag-start na dito, ipila ko man yan sila agad,” he said as he also talked about the preparation that his two daughters are doing for the upcoming vaccination yet to be announced here.
“Pinapakain ko sila lagi ng prutas pagkatapos paggawa ng module kapag mayroon, pinapatulog ko na sila ng maaga, sabi ko dapat malakas sila,” the father said.
