Authorities from Narra Municipal Police Station arrested a 28-year-old suspect around 1:00 AM yesterday, July 8, at Barangay Panacan, Narra, Palawan.
In a spot report, authoritis identified the suspect as Rey Cañete, single, jobless, and a resident of Barangay Marabon, Balabac, Palawan.
Based on the investigation, the authorities received a call around 1:00 AM yesterday from Barangay Chairman Felomina Janiva who was seeking assistance regarding the arrested suspect for violation of other forms of swindling.
Authorities proceeded to the area to verify the report and upon arrival saw that the suspect was already handcuffed and arrested based on the information given to them by one of the victim which they identified as Samuel Santillan, 37 years old, single, lobster-buyer and a resident of Purok Pagkakaisa, Barangay Panacan, Narra, Palawan.
According to the victim, on July 6, the suspect contacted him saying that he will deliver lobsters on the same day and that he needs a P12,000 which the victim gave to complete the supposed transaction. The suspect failed to deliver as what they have agreed.
The same transaction transpired to Barangay Counselor Joel Gapuz who then gave the suspect a P2,500 payments for the alleged lobsters.
The victims, along with other civilians saw and arrested the suspect in Barangay Malinao on July 7 which they turned over to the authorities based on the report.
The suspect is now under the custody of the local police station.
