In a recent operation by the 2nd Special Operations Unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, smuggled cigarettes valued at approximately ₱305,000 were confiscated in Puerto Princesa City.

The operation, conducted on July 23, 2024, took place in Barangay Bancao-Bancao as part of Oplan Sita.

Personnel from the PNP Maritime Group intercepted a Toyota Innova loaded with 350 reams of various cigarette brands, including Berlin, Fort, and Maxxis.

The vehicle was stopped during a routine check, and upon failing to present proper documentation for the goods, the authorities seized the contraband and arrested the driver.

The seized cigarettes and the vehicle are currently in the custody of the 2nd Special Operations Unit for proper documentation and disposition.

The PNP Maritime Group has called on the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal trade and smuggling to their office.
