17 Vietnamese nationals, nailigtas ng PCG at PNP Maritime Group matapos mabahura ang sinasakyang barko sa Bataraza

Nailigtas ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at PNP Maritime Group ngayong araw, Noyembre 22, ang 17 Vietnamese nationals na lulan ng VIET HAI STAR na isang general cargo vessel na bahagyang lumubog sa karagatan malapit sa Balabac, Palawan.

Sa inilabas na report ng Philippine Coast Guard, ang nasabing barko ay may dalang 4,000 na toneladang bigas at galing ng Ho Minh City sa Vietnam at patungong Cagayan De Oro nang mabahura ito humigit-kumulang 810 yards ang layo sa Balabac Port.

Agad naman na nagsagawa ng joint Search and Rescue (SAR) ang mga tauhan ng PCG at PNP Maritime Group upang saklolohan ang nasabing mga tripulante. Pagdating sa lokasyon ng insidente ay bahagya nang nakalubog ang kalahati ng barko at pasado alas-quatro ng umaga ngayong araw ay inabandona na ito ng mga tripulante.

Nasa maayos naman na kondisyon nang iligtas ang mga Vietnamese nationals.

Agad din na nagsagawa ang PCG’s Marine Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU) ng oil spill assessment malapit sa pinangyarihan ng insidente upang alamin kung may kumalat na langis ngunit negatibo ito sa resulta.

Samantala, patuloy naman ang imbestigasyon ng PCG kaugnay sa nangyaring insidente.
